Accident at the Plutus Mine.
MR A. CLARKE INJURED.
Yesterday morniig Mr A CJarke, a, young man engaged on the Plufcus portion of the Montezuma Co/s holdings, met with a nasty accident. It appears that Clarke was assisting in the erection of a shoot from the tramway t© the hopper, when the temp.* ary staging gave way, precipitating him a distance of some 20ft. The .accident was witnessed by his mates, w,bo. quickly went to the sufferer, who , was iHiconscious for a short ■ time, and in less time than it takes to tell, put together a temporary stretcher, and carried him through? the bush out to the open, from whence he was conveyed in a buggy to his home. Dr Cooper, who attended the sufferer, reports that no bones are broken, but both knees are somewhat strained, besides which Clarke received severe contusions, necessitating his laying-up for at least 2 or 3 weeks.
