Pathetic Story.
A pathetic story illustrative of the devotion of a mother unto death comes from Skagway, on the way to Kloi> dyke. It has to do with The treacherous Chilcoot Pass. On February 2nd three Tangish Indians, a mother and two children, one a papoose, attempted to cross the pass from the lakes to Skagway Two dayß later the, woman and the oldest child— probably ten years of age—-were found frozen to death. This discovery was made through the pitiful cries of the babe, yet alive. Those who were attracted by the noise brushed away the snow. The mother was naked. She had removed her clothing and wrapped it round the body of the infant, pressed it to her breast, and laid down to die. The little thing, nearer dead than alive was held in the death grasp*of its Mother/ -
