At a hastily convened meeting held in the offices of the local Boards last night, i he Chairman (Mr T. . Gavin), • stated' that he had received news -confirmatory of the announcement published elsewhere iu this issue of - the Hon A. J. Cad man’s forthcoming visit to Te Aroha on the 24th. Our honoured guest is expected to amve on Monday, 23rd inst,. and it has been decided to signalise the event by a grand demonstration on the following day—Queen’s Birthday. This is no ordinary event. To the hon member for Ohinemuri we are largely indebted -for the handsome addition to the attractions of the Domain, not only m the building it will be his pleasure and duty to open , but for many other improvements which, from time to Mm have marked the history of our. • justly famed reserve. We are deeply 'in his debt, and we think this a fitting occasion -in whiclx to make some - acknowledgment,- ef I **, . IT* 8 .f* > cided at :the ; meeting ter mvite various public bodies in the neighborhood to. assist the Board in formulating a programme of events worthy of such an occasion—the public recog-, nition of numerous and valuable services rendered. It was also resolved that a public meeting should E be. called by advertisement in the “'News for Monday evening next, at 7.30, at the Domain Board offices, for the purpose of electing a. committee of-management. A special train is to be arranged for, and it is intended that the town should be canvassed for support.
