To. the Board of Education, Auckland, i Gentlemen, ! We,, the-undersigned* householders of ! Te Aroha West School District,, do ■ hereby petition your honourable Board against the pvoposed removal ! of our school, building from, its pre- .! sent site to the- proposed new site ] in- Manawaru district on the follow.- [ ing grounds* That it would be a * very great- inconvenience and hard , ship-for the children of Th Aroha ! West to have to travel the extra distance that would be necessitated by the removal of the Te A-roha West ; school-house to the proposed new \ site at' Manawaru; In the winter ■ season- especially it would simply be | an impossibility for very young * children presently attending Te Aroha West school to travel to * Manawaru, and there are eight i children whose ages are from five to seven years now attending our \ district school. Exclusive of Manawaru, the total number of Te Aroha West children attending; school is thirty-two, and that number will be : increased next week, by two more of school age* who are coming from Matakohe to reside permanently in our district;. Your petitioners? considering the fact that Te Aroha West is an old settled district having had a school for atleast sixteen years,, and that Manawaruis a settlement of only tiireeyeares tending, cannot helpf eellog that it will net only be a serious inconvenience and hardship, but an act of injustice as well to.ohildrenand parents if our present privilege of Having a< school-house in our midst is taken away from us. In these circumstances we’hope that yotir hou- 1 ; ourable Board will favorably regard our petition* grant the Te Aroha West School remain where it is, Jhe-other- district a- separ- ‘ ‘"Ate* school, which will meet the : requirements of Manawrau*. and ; also meet the wants of' the settlers i in that neighbourhood who reside , on the Shaftesbury side of the river ; a nd have no school accommodation, And your petitioners will ever j pray, etc., Signed by every householder iu Te Aroha West. -
