CRICKET.
Waitekauri v. Te Aroha. The return match between the above teams eventuated in Mr Geo. Lipsey’s 'paddock on Saturday last, Waitekauri again proving the better team* Play commenced shortly after 10 o’clock, visitors batting first, and by the time the last man was put out had succeeded in making a substantial score of 90. Pleydell (30), Fenu and McKay (20 each), bedig the principal scorers Te Aroha followed and the first couple to face the bowlers, Eagar and Srnales, put in some good cricket and runs were made briskly, Simmouds, however, caugh Srnales (16), Lewis tak ing up the running, made things lively, when Eagar, who appeared fairly set, was unfortunately run out, after making 10. Lewis continued batting well, and by careful cricket, added 20 to the score, carrying his bat; the remainder failed to bring the score up, and Waitekauri wou as stated. The scores were:—

Waitekauri y. Te A-wamutu. This match took place at Te Awamutu on Wednesday last, the attendance being very large, numbers putting in an appearance from the surrounding districts. The seores were: Waitekauri, Ist innings, 73; 2nd innings 77. Te Awamutu Ist innings, 63; 2nd innings, total for 6 wickets, 83. Had the match been played out, Te Awamutu would in all probability have won, they having only 27 runs to make with five good' men to bat. Afternoon tea was kindly provided by the ladies. In the evening the visitors were entertained at a smoke concert in Bathurst’s Commercial Hotel. Taupiri v. Waitekauri.
On Thursday the Waitekauri team met the Taupiri chosen. Play started shortly after 11 o’clock. Taupiri went first to the wickets and sored 71 runs, C. M. Gleeson with a well-played 30 and C. R. Lovell 11 being to scorers. Waitekauri replied with 67, Fenn (36) being the principal scorer, going in fourth wicket down and being tenth man out. Taupiri thus won a finelycontested game by four runs.
We understand that the return match, Morrinsville v. Te Aroha, will be played .On Saturday next in Mr G. Lipsey’s paddock.
