A Paeroa Case.
Last week Mr Newdick, of Waihi, forwarded £33 8s to the bank at Paeroa by a man named Innes, but when about half-a-mile from the township he lost the parcel of money. He diligently searched for it, and also spoke to several on the road, including a young man named C. Hudson, a coach-driver, trading between Paeroa and Karangahake. The person in question, it is alleged, picked up the parcel of money, but instead of handing it over to the proper authorities, left for Auckland. A warrant was issued for his arrest, but the police of Auckland failed to effect his capture. However, Hudson, having heard of the warrant, came back to Paeroa, via the Waikato, and early on Friday morning he called at the police station and gave himself. During the morn ing he was brought before Mr Foster, J.P., and charged with the offe ace. The accused was remanded until the 20th inst., bail being Allowed, himself in £SO, and two sureties of £25 each
