Messrs McNicol and Cols Second Sheep Fair.

Messrs McNicoi- and Co. held theirsecond Sheep Fair at their Ohaupo* yards on Wednesday last. r About; Id,OOO sheep were brought forward,; all in excellent condition, and, nearly all the lots were placed at satisfactory , prices. I’fee attendance was large, and! buyers were fairly plentiful. Prices in some lines, more particularly for good young sheep, showed an upward tendency, while others receded some- 5 what j but on the whole it may be said they remained practically unchanged. Lambs ranged from 3s to 8s 6d; the ■, latter price was obtained for a nice lot * of 80 from Mr T. McMicken, which gc» to Auckland. Two-tooth ewes in good condition, sold well* seme prices realised being 7s 2d, 7s lid, Bs, 8s Id, 8s 2d;. two-tooth wethers were a trifles lower, but 7s Bd, Bs, B’s 2d was reached for choice lots. Four, six and fullmouth ewes and wethers ranged from. 3s 6d upwards, Mr Wm. Heaney topping the market with a very choicelot of 100 large-framed wethers, whichfound a new owner in Mr C. Day at Bs. sd. Competition was very keen forthe first few lots of the Napier sheep,, and some 1400 changed hands at prices ranging from 5s 5d to Ba, but when this number were quitted the demand appealed to be satisfied, and the remainder were reserved for privatesale. A good many rams, nearly all - Lincolns, were yarded, and "nothing;else was asked for. Those bred by Mr 0. J. Storey attracted most attention,, and about 30 got by his 50-guinea mm sold readily at from 3 to 3f guineas.
