Under the supervision of Mr Wilson development work is proceeding apace on the Mt. Ryan special claim. The W oodstock’s return for three weeks is 716 tons, yielding £1552. A party consisting of ffotir Auckland miners who left last August for the southern portion of the colony, are now ‘cradling! on theWaipori river, and in a letter to an Auckland resident state that they are each making over Dl2 per month. In December one ‘ pocket 7 -yielded gold' to -ther value of Ll2.
Mr Hunt, general manager of the New Zealand Exploration Company accompanied by Ashley Hunter, U.E., visited Te Aroha this week in connect tion with the Aroha Company’s property at Waiorongomai. Mr H. Griffiths, consulting engineer to the Great Western G.M. Co. visited the mine yesterday. Mr Farquharson, the manager, expresses confidence in being able to remedy the defect in the supply of motive power. Mr E. B. Walker died suddenly in Auckland on Monday night in.a Karangahape Road draper’s shop. Mr Walker was identified with mining in the Te Aroha district.
Mr Hoiland reports favourable progress being made with work on the Grand Result. A tunnel is, being driven by Riggs’ party abopt 80ft below the spot where a shoot ot gold was found,
