Young Men's Society .

A was held last night at Dr Smith’s surgery, Whitaker Street, to consider what further-steps should be taken towards the formation of this society, Dr. Smith being in the chair. After some discussion, the following officers were elected : President, Rev. E. J. McFarland ; Vice-Presidents, Dr Gilbert Smith and Rev. J. Campbell; Committee : Messrs Eager, Stack, Salmon, Burlace, and Skip with ; Hon. Secrepary and Treasurer: Mr Watson. The following rules were drawn up for the guidance of members : —l. All. candidates for admission to the society shail be proposed by two members and balloted for at—next meeting, and elected, by a two-thirds majority. 2. The entrance fee be 2s 6d, with a monthly subscription of Is. 3. Any member one month in arrears shall be notified by the secretary, and if the amount is net paid within onb month his name be struek off the. list of members. Subscription due on Ist of the month. 4 No member admitted under the age of 16 years'. 5. Ladies wishing to become members may do so on payiug Is entrance and 6d per month subscription. The secretary was instructed to secure a temporary room for meeting in, and report to Committee. _ . After the usual vote of thanks-to the chair, the meeting adjourned till Thursday the 10th inst.
