Manawaru.
(From our own Correspondent.) We are sorry to hear that we are about to loos© Mr May from our neighbourhood, he; having sold his farm to Mr George Farmer. Although grieved at the loss of Mr May, w© must, welcome Mr Farmer among us, who is a thorough practical business man, and a gentlehmn of the strictest honour and integrity. Mr John Farmer also contemplates building a house and settling on his land at Victoria block, Manawaru, with his wife and family, which will be quite an addition to the settlement. The last shower of rain brought the turnips up well, and they are making a good show, but we have heard some complaints of the fly eating them. W© hope it is nothing serious, as owing to the long spell of dry weather the hay crop was very light, and if we only succeed in getting a good crop of turnips it will help the cattle through the coming winter.
