The Escaped Convict Knox.

Among the patrons of the Bijou Comedy Company playing last Saturday evening at Huntly, was Knox, the escaped convict. He has been working for Hill Bros., Matahua, as Cook. As soon as Constable White had received information of the convicts whereabouts, he was on the alert, and the prisoner j ust succeeded in eluding the grasp. A hot pursuit followed, in which the runaway got the best of it. He stated to those who identified him that he would not be taken alive.—Waikato Times.
