Of 494 marriages in Wellington during the year just closed, 105 took place in the Registrar’s office. On Friday, says the Waihi Miner, Messrs Morseby (Warden’s Court), Gould (manager of National Bank, .Dargaville), and Brown (manager of National Bank, Paeroa), accompanied by Mr W. H. Johnson, surveyor, yisited the Waihi Mine. While being shown the "Victoria Reef, at No. S level, a blast exploded. They had been duly warned, and hurried away, but Mr Brown was not fast enough to escape the result of the explosion and by the impact of the air was nearly thrown down,.after experiencing something' like a. blow on the nape of the neok. For a short time after he felt quite dizzy, but soon recovered, and we are glad to be able to state that no serious effects to him have resulted. He expressed himself as much surprised with the size and capacity of the pump at No. 2 shafts V
