Te Aroha Agricultural and Horticultural Society
A meeting of the Committee of the above Society was held in the Town Hall on Monday night, when there were present: Messrs Herries', A. W. Edwards; McFarland, C. B. Edwards, A. Bowler, E. Bowler, May, Strange, Bossons, McNicol, Evans. Bellamy, Marshall, Jackson, Rowe, Hetherington, and Dill (secretary). Mr W. committee since last general meeting. All of which was approved. A large amount of business was gone through, in view of the approaching show on 12th February next, principally in the matter of selecting judges. Several names were suggested, and the Secretary was instructed to wri e the gentlemen mentioned, and get their consent to act. Stewards were also appointed for the Various classes of exhibits, as follows :—For Stock Exhibits and Leaping Matches: Messrs Hetherington, A Bowler, Bellamy, C. B. Edwards, McNicol, McKenzie, and A. W. Edwards. For Pot Plants, Flowers, Poultry, and Fruit: Messrs Bossons,, Evans' and Jackson. For Vegetables and Field Produce : Messrs • Strange, E. Bowler, Borrie, Cribb and Marshall. For Dairy Produce, Cookery, Sundries: Messrs Farmer, Rowe and Gavin; For Fancy Work, Plain and Fancy Needlework, Works of Art, Penmanship, Essays, Collections and Mechanical Works: Messrs McFarland and J. W. May.' ' It was decided that the Secretary write to Auckland for quotations for hire of large marquee for Show. The sub-committee (Messrs McFarland, Hetherington, Bowler, A. YV. Edwards and Hill) were re-elected, and it was left to them to see about gerting the tobies and trestles repaired, and sufficient new . ones inade. It was further decided that wire netting be put round the fruit and flower exhibits, and also that the Secretary should write the Railway Department for a special train service between Te Aroha and .Paeroa. -
If permission can be obtained it is intended to run a barb wire round the top of the pound enclosure fence. In the matter of free admission for those in charge of exhibits, it was agreed that only those in actual charge of stock be allowed free entry. . In order to avoid confusion it was—decided to have the tickets for admission to afternoon and evening, of different colors.' J > r ; A vote of thanks to the chairman brought the meeting to a close. )
