One of Her Majesty’s Inspectors onoe asked a little girl in an elementary school ; ‘Suppose I lent your father £IOO in June, and he promised to pay me hack £lfi on the first pf ;eypry month, how much would he owe me at the end of the year ?’ She said at once, ‘ EEp’d owe, : you £loo.’ J dear,’ said the inspector, 4 you do not know the very elements of arithmetic.’ Ah, sir,’ said the girl, 4 that is not it, you. do not know-sny father.’
