TOWN BOARD.

The üßualu B ual monthly meeting of the above Board was held in the Domain Buildings on Saturday evening last, there being present :—Coins Gavin, (in the chair), Bradley, Gallagher, Hotchin, and Hetherington. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.. The inward and outward correspondence was also dealt with. • ' . ;•

Pollution of streams. letter was received from the Minfeff Department, Wellington, asking Board any of the creeks,. streams,. within the extended boundaries of' Jhe goldfield, were required for domestic purposes, and if so to have the same set apart.' The. clerk was instructed to make inquiries re the matter referred to in the new boundaries, and at the same time to ascertain if the creek running through Te Aroha, and also the one fit the back of Mr Makie’s were protected.

’ Erom D. lliundon, auctioneer, Tau ranga, relative to holding horse sale in the Town Board yards :—This matter had’been attended to by the Chairman. Ohinemuri Hospital. —A letter was iead from JMr Chas. Rhodes, Hon. Sec. to the Ohinemuri Hospital Committee, stating, it was proposed to hold an entertainment in connection with the matter, and asking for the patronage of the Board :—lt was resolved that that the patronage of the Board be extended, and as many as could posssbly do so would be present. . Lamp lighting. —The Chairnam reported. that since the last meeting the following tenders had been received for lighting lamps in Whitaker street for a period of twelve months. G. Bygrave, £27 ; W. Subsidy.— lt was decided to make application for:' subsidy granted owards the Bridge street contract. , Gravel Pit.— The . Clerk reportedthat, now communication had been received respecting the gravel pit. Hoad to Pailway Station. - Com Gallagher asked if Mr Bow, ; the contractor for forming, etc., the new road to the railway station, had finished his contract as laid down by the Works Committee.

The Works Committee replied in the negative, and it was resolved that his accoimt. be held over until such time as the work is completed according to instructions. In the event of Mr Bow failing to complete the woik, it was decided that, a man be employed to finish the same.

Lamp Posts. —C«m. Gallagher said the lamp posts in Whitaker-street required painting, and movocf that the work be carried out; also billstickers be prohibited from pacing bill^thereon.—This was seconded by Com Bradley and carried. / Application. —Com Gallngher made application on behalf of St. Joseph’s Church to remove dirt from the cutting opposite Mr Devey’s residence. He stated it was the iutention to remove the Church building on the allotment near Dr Cooper’s residence, and the dirt was required for filling-in purposes.lt was resolved to grant the request, on the understanding the dirt, be removed' under the supervision of the Works Committee.
