‘ Mr John Douglas, of Auckland, and Mr Lewenberg, the sugar beet expert, are advertised to hold, a public meeting in Te Aroha on Tliurs-. Sugar Beet, day evening, for the purpose of more fully discussing the proposed industry, for the manufacture •of sugar from beet root. We are plecsed to know that the required, area of ground required' by the company has been almost subscribed, up to Saturday last the amountof 2,000 acres had been promised. This doesgnot include the Te Aroha guarantee, so that it now only remains for the settlers in this- district to . 'add their quota of 500 acres and the Sue cess .of tho venture is assurrod. We hope the settlers will hie alive to, their own, interests in this matter, and attend the meeting in largo numbers and if satisfactory, bo prepared to guarantee the area they will cultivate.
