WAHAFOA.

(From our own Correspondent)

A plain and fancy dross ball was bold in the schoolroom on Friday evening ’ast, and was a great success. About fifty couples were dancing, and quite a number of lookers on were there besides. The following were some of the characters Mrs C. N. Murray, ‘The imps, that tempted good Saint Anthony ;’ Miss Graham j | Gipsy,’ Mrs Forsman, ‘ Bride ;’ . Miss Constable, * Saxon Princess Miss Turnbull,. ‘.'Hospital Nurse.Mips ,B. Turnbull, ‘ Shepherdess Miss E. Teague, ‘ Romp ;’ Miss Campbell, 1 Spanish Lady;’ Misses M. and -B. Campbell, ‘ Fancy dress;’ Mrs Selby, uii I'i’l* G-ujm;’ Miss Davison, ’’School Girl,;’ Miss Ratcliffo, ‘ShGp-horue-s-;’ Miss Holloway, Miss Pick up and Miss Moloney; * Flower Girls;’ Miss Scelly, *'Good Luck,’ and Miss E. Scelly, ‘ Morning.’ I consider Mrs 0. N. Murray’s assumed character was the.most unique, and carried opt wonderfully well, though a very difficultone to pourtray. The gentlemen characters were : —Mr J. W. Simpson, ‘Courtier 17ih Cen* bury;’ Mr Lloyd, ‘ Chinaman Mr Scelly, ‘Nigger Mr Weeks ‘Tenuis Player;’ Mr Campbell, ‘ Sweedish Peasant,- etc. All were highly delighted with their evening’s amusement, and considered it the most enjoyable dance ever held here.
