OHINEMURI COUNTY COUNCIL

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council took place on Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock, there being present: —Crs Barry (in the chair), Corbett, Edwards, Nash, Bowler, Nicholls, Thorp, McGruer and Cassrells. _ • The minutes of the previous meeting were real and confirmed. Tenders. —No. 50—Road draining at Netherton, Ist section. Thomas Mooney, £lll 7s 6d; D. McCarthy (accepted), £49 10s; W. Thompson and A. McCarr, £99 17s 7£d; J. Shine £6O 12s 9d. . No. 68—300 cubic yards of metal at Owharoa Road, near quarry.—Mo Kenna (accepted), 4s per yd; T. Laughriiau, 5s 3d. No. 67. —3OO cubic yards of "metal at road side, near crown Mine, Karaugahatce. -P. Trainor (not’ accepted), 7s per yard. No. 68.—3C0 cubic yards at Tarariki Cre-. k. Only one tender was received for this*at 8s 3d per yard, which was informal, as a name was not signed to the tender.

Or Edwards propose that Mr Goonan be offered contract No 68 at 6s 3d per yard. Cr McGruer seconded, and it was carried. ' ENGINEER TO THE COUNTY.

The Chairman proposed that the Council go into committee to consider the applications for the position of engineer.—Carried After coming out of committee, the Chairman mentioned that they had agreed to appoint Mr D. JW Me Arthur, of Horsham, Victoria, to the position of engineer to the County. The outward correspondence was read and approved.
