HOT SPRINGS DOMAIN BOARD.

On Saturday evening last, the 2nd Lust, the members of the above Board met in their o ffice to transact the usual monthly business. Present:— Messrs Gavin (in the chair), Bradley, Hotchin, and Gallagher* The minutes of the ordinary monthly and also of the' special meeting were read and confirmed. The inward and outward correspondence being also read.

A letter was read from 8.N.Z., notifying the Board that the debit balance in bank at present amounted to £92 Os 6d.

Reservoir. —The Chairman drew the attention of those present to various works he had had carried hut since the last meeting. The numerous small springs in the vicinity of ' the Domain had been attended to, some of which, being of a very high temperature and a good overflow, had been run into the reservoir alongside No. 2 bath, thereby greatly increasing the supply. The pipes leading to the private baths had also been fixed, and in such a manner as to almost double the former supply to these baths. A large pipe had been fixed around the building, so that now even in the case of excu sions, when the amount of water required is enormous, the supply will be adequate. ' -

Ladders.— -Mr Hotclfin drew the attention of the members to the advisability of purchasing ladders, etc., for the use of the caretakers in carrying out their duties.—'Resolved that the ladders be purchased.

Excursions to Te Aroha. —Mr Bradley stated that as the excursions to this Sanatorium last year had been -such a great success, he thought; a letter! should be forwarded to the Traffic Manager, asking if it was intended to run similar excursions this season, and if so, to let the Board know the dates, so that arrangements could be made for the reception of excursionists.—lt was resolved that a letter be forwarded as suggested by Mr Bradley. • Government Grant. —Mr Gallagher asked if any wo,; d h id been received r« the £IOO on the estimates for Te Aroha Hot Springs.—The Chairman stated that the Hou Mr Cadmau. being indisposed lately, he supposed this was the reason they had not received any communication re the matter.—The other members of the Board expressed themselves as well satisfied- with the way in winch the member for the district has looked after the interests of the place, in the - way of obtaining grants for Thompson’s track, railway works, Waitoa drains, etc., and thought the residents had every reason to be satisfied at the attention received from the Hon Mr Cadman.

Library. —The Chairman spoke with regard to the state of the library, and thought that steps should be taken—with the money obtained for the use of the books —to arrange for a new supply of the latest books, etc., the present stock beiug far to > small and of an out-of-date class. He thought that between 200 and 300 books might be obtained for the summer months on the exchange principle.—This matter was left in the hands of the Chairman and Mr Snewin (clerk), to have carried out in the best possible manner.

Guide Book.— The Chairman stated that as the Guide Books to the baths were now completed, arrangements should be made whereby they could be freely circulated in this and adjoining colonies —Resolved on the motion of Mr Bradley, seconded by Mr -Gallagher that this matter be left in the hands of the Chairman and Clerk. Almanac. — It was resolved to advertise in the annual almanac issued byproprietor of the Tf Aroha News.

Monthly Statement. —Tho Clerk read the Statement for the month ending November 2nd as follows : Receipts.—Sale of tickets, £23 18s; towels, £3 Os 2s; library, 4s; tennis, ss. Total, £27 17s 4d. Expenditure. —Caretakers and Clerk, £lB 8d; P. Baine, £l 17s 6d; D D. Macnicol, 4s6d;R. Michael, # £4 5s 9d; Mrs Simpson, 15s Id; J. Lavery, £1 5s 6d; P. Snewin, 4s 9d; A. Laybourn, £1 6s 2d; J. B. Johnson, £l9 15s Id; Mrs Balcke, 6s 6d. Accounts as read were passed for paynfent. This being all the business.
