.robbery At wAihi Wai hi, Thursday An audacious robbery took place here between the hours of top o’clock last night and six o’clock this morning, the the store of Mr W. McWaters having been broken into and several valuables taken. The. stolen goods included three WateTbury watches valued at £3 5s fid, two pairs of boots valued at a £l, a considerable quantity of tobacco, and also a lever hunting watch belonging to another person, which had been left in the store. The till was also rifled of its contents, but the amount of money was very small. It appears that the burglar gained an entrance by a small window in the back of the premises. The matter has been reported to the police in Paeroa, and it is hoped that as a result of Constable Beattie’s investigation the delinquent will be brought to justice; THE TARIFF Wellington, Thursday. The Governor’s message, authorising the amendment of the tariff in the direction of exempting certain classes of mining machinery from duty, will most likely make its appearance on Monday next. No one seems to know the precise cause of the delay.
