SUICIDE OF A PHOTOGRAPHER 'Christchurch,' Wednesday. At eight o clock this morning Mr C. H Manning, the well-known photographer, was found , lying dead on a couch in his studio. .An empty bottle whicli had contained nitrate of silver, a mediciHe glass, and a bottle containing whisky, were found on a table. At present no reason.is assigned for the rash deed, but pieces of card board upon which memos were written clearly indicates that he was not altogether right in his mind. Mr Manning succeeded to the business of the late P. S. Chourup, whose death in the same place was also surrounded by painful circumstances. v
SEQUEL TO JACK THE RIPPER STORY ' Wellington, Wednesday.
The German, Herr VonSchoeneberg, who has been . appearing in Court rather frequently of late as interpreter on behalf of a restaurant keeper in cases against his wife, and who was charged with' libel on the information of Mr Jellicoe, solicitor, was this afternoon committed to the lunatic asylum.
