MINING.

At the sitting of the Warden’s Court on Thursday last quite a number of applications for special claims, licensed holdings, water-races, etc., were applied for. Several of tho applications were granted and a number were adjourned till the next sitting of the Court, owing to the necessary plans not being forthcoming. We have for a long time past been anxiously looking forward to a mining boom in this district, and from what we can learn we are now at its commencement, and before long we will be in the midst of a vigorous mining population. Additional hands are being put on in the various mines at Waiorongomai and Stoney-creek, all of which are busily engaged in breaking out stuff for treatment. The Loyalty people have a large parcel of quartz at the battery awaiting treatment, which promises well for a good return. Work in the Oadman mine is still going on briskly, and the stuff taken out shows gold freely, and when crushed should prove remunerative to its shareholders. Several men are busily engaged on the old Premier workings, in order to thoroughly test the country to prove whether it is payable ®r otherwise. ALL NATIONS, TE AEOHA.

We are pleased to note that the extension of the All Nations Company’s ground was granted at the sitting of the Warden’s Courl. The prospects of this Company are very promising.' During the last month work in prospecting the ground has been vigorously carried out by Graham and party, who hold great hopes in the future prosperity of this claim. Gold is known to exist in no less thau five different leaders which give ample ground for the Company to carry on work on a large scale. HEAVY FIND OF GOLD Wellington, Last Night. The Post’s Cullensville correspondent wires that the tributers in the Siberian struck very rich gold last night, tho shift picking up about 40oz this morning, over 50oz came up together with a bucket of cement. The return up to dinner time must be well over 300 oz, the bottom has not been all picked up, and gold is still showing freely in crevices. The specimens are splendid ones, the gold is well waterworn and beautiful samples.
