Enormous business has been 'done lately at French fairs by a man who professed to .sell a rat powder -that was perfectly harmless and that struck rats dead on the spot.- In order to convince the sceptical, the man first of all powdered a slice of bread with the stuff and [ate a piece himself. Then he put the remainder under a glass' case, in which a rat was kept in captivity. The rat went to eat the bread and instantly foil dead.
