GREAT CONSERVATIVE VICTORY MR CHAMBERLAIN on the - LIBERAL DEFEAT THE IRISH MEMBERS PROPOSAL TO WITHDRAW FROM PARLIAMENT London, July 28. The net Conservative and Unionist gain Jn the election is 90 seats, equal to ISO votes on division.’ Deducting the Liberal majority of 28 in the Parliament, the new. Government have a majority of 152 on division. The Eight Hon J. Chamberlain, in a letter to a correspondent, attributes the victory of the .Conservatives and Unionists entirely tp the strong feeling against Home Rule, and the preference for domestic and social reforms to reroluntionary legislation. The Irish Catholic states that a highly • honoured clerical dignitary writes suggesting that the National Convention should arrange to withdraw the Irish members from the Impe rial Parliament, where their presence would be little better than a mere m ockery, o vying to the Unionist majority.
