STABBING AFFRAY AT PONSONBY

A serious Cribbing affray took place on Sunday.rivening at Richmond Road, Ponsonby. Mr Fred. Browne, assistant to Mr Browne, shatter, was walking with a young lady, when he was suddenly assaulted by a man, who sprang from the side of the road, and ■seized him with the exclamation, “I have you now.” A tussle ensued, and Mr Browne was stabbed' through the hat, the felt of which was cut through, and a wound, about ah inch in length and cutting to the scalp,, was inflicted Mr -Browne sank to the ground in semi-unconsciousness for a or two. He next saw the young lady struggling with his assailant. He went to her, assistance to receive a second stab, underneath the|eye. Mr Browne was taken to his home, where he had to be attended to by Dr Moir, The young lady was also placed under medical care for a severe wrench of the elbow. The matter was placed in the hands of the police.
