TEREIBLE MINING ACCIDENT.
EIGHT MEN BILLED—TWO OTHEES INJURED. Sydney; July 18. A terrible catastrophe oecured in the South Broken Hilljj mine this afternoon. The day shift [was engaged at the 400 ft levfd en sulphide stopes, and as the ground looked dangerous, the men were called out, and they retired- to what was regarded as a safe position, when an immense fall of earth took place. The men were safe from this, but the pressure of the falling mass caused a terrific blast of air which threw the men about like nine-pins, .and dashed them against the timber with, great violence. ,
-On inspection it was fonnd that eight men were two severely injured. * -' V The names of those killed are Lee, Trembath, Nelson, Snell, Holmes, Pearce, McLiesh and Arthur. With the excedtion of McLiesh, the deceased leaves wives-and families.
