WAIORONGOMAI.
Messrs E. J. Dunn, P. W. Duffleld, and W. Shepherd, have been here during tho present week thoroughly inspecting the property, machinery, plant, etc., of the new company. The water-race was found in need of urgent repair, and men were started to work on it. ; Men were' also employed to clear a track up to the Buck Reef, as the Company hsive decided to put a drive right through It, in order to thoroughly test its value. They purpose crushing ihe quartz taken from it, which will be about 200 tons, as the reef is exactly 100 feet thick. Mr Dunn estimates that the outcrop contains at least two million tons of solid quartz. Should this lode prove payable wo have some idea of the .magnitude of the work before them. I’he drive is to be commenced immediately, under the supervision of Mr Shepherd, formerly manager of the Broken Hill South Extended No. 1 mine, Broken Hill. J
