TE AROHA TOWN BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Te Aroha Town Board was held on Saturday evening. Cora Gavin (in chair), and all members were present. , The minutes of previous ordinary and special meetings were read and confirmed.

CORRESPONDENCE. # A letter WSs read from the Ohinemuri County Council askihg the Board to assi t them in: getting the Tui track and Karangahake Hill track connected. The Council have applied to the Government for a grant of £2OO for the work. i On the motion of Com Gavin, seconds l by Com Bradley, it was resolved to assist the Council in every possible way. The clerk was instructed,to write to the. Hon. Cadman urging the necessity of the work.

The Chairman moved that a General Rate of Sixpence in £ on all Rateable Property within the Town District for the period commencing April Ist, 1895, and ending March 31st, 1896. Such rate to be payable iii odc sum on and after the 31st August,, 1895, -at- the Board’s pffico. Carried.T vr ; > f = ' ‘ u WORKS.

Bew, contractor for Bridge-street formation, ,w s aited upon, the Board asking information the contfact, and the intention of theßmrd. 1 e e The Chairman replied the information would he given at the close of the meeting. , ~ The Works Committee reported the completion of .White’s and the Burgess-street contract.; _ The Clerk was instructed to write to the Railway Department, asking them to complete their portion of Burgess-street, TE AROHA-THAMES RAILWAY. Com GwlHgher referred t? the. fption being taken at the Thames urging the completion of the railway between Paeroa and Thames, and suggestedthat the Board should take up the agitation either by petition or otherwise. . It was decided to support the Thames Borough Council—that the Clerk write them as to the best and most- effective way to assist them. Accounts-amountingto £4212s 7d were passed for payment.
