monthly meeting.

Thu ordinary monthly meeting of ;the Piako County Council was held in the Council Chambers/ Morrinsville, on Thursday last. Present: Crs Chepmell (chairman), Larney, Hodgson, Gavin, Herries, Hunt, Harrison, and Browne. , Gr Seddon feeing absent owing to illness.. - The minutes of previous meeting Were read and confirmed. r . • Co asESPONDE ce •: —It was decided to ask the Bank to allow the Council, an overdraft of £6OO if necessary. The Gordon Settlement Association wrote' asking the Council to pay the cost of surveying a road through Mr Osborne’s property.. After some, discussion ic was. resolved that the Council inform the Association that they would be willing to take the road under the Public. Works Act, providing the Association pay for thefM of survey, etc., / . Mr Gage Brown wrote drawing the attention of the’ Council to the fact that the main drain near his farn was not sufficient tocarry away the water, consequently. the road was being washed away. The matter was referred to the Foreman of Works to attend to.

Mr Mulcaky wrote complaining of the slate of the outfall drains through his property, and suggested they be deepened and offered to pay half cost. Kef erred to. the member of the riding to report. Te Aroha-Lichfield KoAD.--Cr Herries reported on the dangerous state of portions of this road near Waiorongomai. Or Harrison thought far top much money had been spent on this road, especially near Te Aroha, and said it was out of proportion to the importance of the place. Cr Gavin warmly repudiated such a statement, and said it was not so. That road had only' received its duo p oportion of expenditure. Considerable discussion took place re the state, of roads in the County, and the two Foremen of Works were instructed to employ the necessary men to put the roads in good order during this month.

Accounts amounting to about £225 6s 9d were passed for payment. The Council then rose.
