OHINEMURI COUNTY COUNCIL
The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Council was held in the Courcii Clumbers on Thursday last, 4th inst. Present: Crs Barry (Gnairman), Bowler, Nash, Thorp, Nicliolis, and Ca-srels. The ttrnutes of piev : ojs meeting were read and confirmed.

Mr Thompson, Clerk of the Bay of Plenty Licensing Committee, wrote forwarding account for services for Clerk for the past year, also accounts from Opotiki Herald and Bay of Plenty Times for advertising. Cr Edwards, who was absent, wrote suggesting that some one be sent to Tauranga for the hook. It was decided to obtain Mr Miller’s opinion on the subject, and Mr Thompson be informed that any accounts cannot be passed until th - Council see how they staud in the matter. Fiom Mr Elliott, Wellington, staling that £250 had been authorised by Government for Paeroa- Waihi road. It was resolved that tenders be called for five lots of broken metal of 200 yards each, between Kurangabake and Waihi' It was decided to ask the Government for £2OO towards opening up prospecting tracks.
A petition for the completion of the railway to the Thames, asking for the Council to sign it.'was read. Resolved that the County do not sign the petition. Mr Kenny tendered his resignation as Deputy Relieving Officer. Decided to recommend Mr Ingram for the position. From Tauranga County Council asking the Council to join in petitioning Govern mont to have a tramway surveyed from Bowentpwn to Waihi. Declined.
From agent of Northern Co. asking for a site alongside Junction Wharf fora site,, also for a site near new wharf, if Council had control of same. The Foreman o ’ Works be a«ked to make a sketch of the land where shed be erected at Junction Wharf.
From Mr E. Quinn, manager of the Waitekauri No. 4, asking for L 25 to be spent in forming a road from the Beehive to Waitekauri No. 4. Foreman or Works to report. A. A. Wight and H. G. Wick wrote asking that the approaches to the new bridge on Puke road be fascined, and offering to give the ti~tree for fascines. Left in the hands of Foreman of Works. The notice of motion that all resolutions re advertising he rescinded, was carried. The Finance Committee’s report was read and adopted. The Council then adjournal.
