MINING.
STONEY GREEK. v A meeting of shareholders the Stoney Creek Prospectng Syndicate wps held in the Te Aroha Town Hall on Wednesday evening, there was a full attendance. Mr E. Gallaghej occupied the chair, p and stated that the property, which had now been well proved to contain payable gold had been applied for as a Licensed Holding The ground is situated on the south, and is joined by the All Nations Special Claim, which has been recently successfully floated in Auckland. Considerable routine was transacted. It may he mentionedfthat .the syndicate commenced operations some six months ago with 20 shareholders, and every one has paid up to date, which, in itself speaks well for rhe prospects. Considerable progress is being made with the low level, and the indications are considered favourable, Immediately the ground is granted, it. to put other work in hand in order to more fully develope the mine. CADMAN PROSPECTING ASSOCIATION. • This Association have pegged out a considerable area at . Waiorougomai, containing some 30 acres, comprising several old workings, which have beon abandoned for many years. The principal portion being that khbwn as the Werehiko. In this mine a large amount of Work was done in the early days of the field ; - the main reef is about 8 to 10 feet wide at the outcrop and looks remarkably good stone, and will yield fair dish prospects. Thi3 reef has been driven on to at three levels at considerable length, the intermediate tunnel being 228 ft long. At the end of this, drive a small leader was cut and: stoped out, which yielded about 4oz gold per ton. In the low level ihe proapectoi’S have discovered another small loader about 9in wide, which looks well and widens as it goes down, and should contain rich gold.^ The Association also take in the Silver King, Waii oki, and the Success claims.. The Works Committee visited the the ground yesterday, and started two men to clean up the old workings and take out about 10 tons from the intermediate level as a trial crushing, the result of which will he anxiously looked for. THE LOYALTY. This Company have the good fortune to be at present working on a very fine, run of gold. The stope that is being taken out is immediately above the rich patch that was worked some time ago, the reef is now about sft from wall to wall, well defined, and carrying hoarse gold throughout. The country stands well so that very litsle timber is required. The men are able to make good progress with the breaking down, as the passes are so arranged that very little handling of the quar z is required. The Water which soaks thro ugh the roof in places, has been a source of annoyance to tho men, but at present they are not troubled on that account owing to the reef being more compact. • The fact that this mine has now been, for nearly two years working upon payable ore, and paying dividends regular, not only speaks well for the mine itself, but also for th e able ma nagement of Mr T. Gavin who is in charge of the works.
