THE DEAN CASE SYDNBy, June 29 ' ‘ The Herald says the result of the commission restoring Dean to liberty will certainly give relief to public feeling, and-will, perhaps, supply a weighty reminder of the necessity for great caution and thoroughness in investigation by those responsible for the administration of justice. The Daily Telegraph states that the release of Dean rectifies, as far as possible,, one of the most serious mistakes ever made by the administration of justice in this colony. Dean, addressing the eomrifittee who had worked so hard for his release, declared his innocence, and said he hoped to prove that their confidence had not been misplaced. -

THE SYNDEY SHEEP SHOW. Sydney, June 29. The first annual show of the New South Wales Breeders’ Association opened to-day, when judging took place. The formal opening by the' Acting-Governor is fixed for Monday. In the prize list are the following New Zealanders :—Threlkeld, Canterbury, took champion prizes for the best English Leicester ram, and English Leicester ewe; Cobb, Palmerston North the champion prize for the best Romney Marsh ram; Wallis, of Woodstock, the champion prize for the best Romney Marsh ewe. In the Romney Marsh class for rams, Cobb took first and third prizes, and J. Barrows, Wairarapa, second prize. Eor rams under two years, Bidwell Brothers, Wairarapa, took first prize ; Wallis, second ; Grey, Masterton, third. For ewes over two^years: Cobb took first and third prizes, and Wallis second prize. For ewes under two years ; Wallis’took first; Mungavin, of Porirua, Wellington, second; and Cobb third. In the English Leicester class Threlkeld takes three first prizes for rams and a second for ewes. Nine workmen have been murdered by Bashi Bazouks in Macedonia. The Standard’s correspondent at Constantinople says that Austria, Bulgaria, and Servia intend to‘mobilise troops immediately to secure reforms and restore order in Macedonia. The Turkish soldiery are demoralised and refuse to respond to the Sultan’s demands upon them. The correspondent hints graver complications are threatened than in Armenia.
