CORRESPONDENCE.
[Under no chcurpefances whatever is the Editor responsible for matter contained in correspoodence ] Y:-'-- . (to the Editor.) Sir,— ln • your report of * the Town Board monthly meeting I was amazed to find that ( Mr Hqtchin, one; of the Commissioners, was- willing to act as bill-sticker to tho . Board..- Surely things are degenerating. In olden times it was the custom—before newspapers were issued —to have men to ao this kind of iVork for a small remuneration. But I thought one of our “reps ’’-was worthy of .a higher calling. It puts, me in mind of the old. adage “ Idleness makes a man mischievous.” Perhaps the wbrthy referred’to: (in his spare tijne) might see his way to act as Clerk, or do the carting for the Board at the same price, it would be a great saving of the ratepayers money. .. We have now a Works Committee who are doing the duty of Engineer,, etc., but I would pot like,to say that this will be a saving, for I am .of opinion that time will prove to the contrary. Trusting you will see your way to put this in your next.—l am, etc., Ratepayer.
