BAND OF HOPE.

These meetings continue to draw. a large attendance of both young and old, and on Monday night the Hall was crowded to the door. The Rev. F. G. Evans,; President, occupied the chair, and during the eyoning delivered a short'address, speaking of the evil that is caused by the use of strong drink, and gave instances of the curse of drink which had came under his personal observation. The programme, which was got up by several, members of the Committee, was a good one. After a short prayer and the singing pf. one of Hoylehs hymns, the following® items were gone through without a hitch : —Duet, Annie Craig and E. Allen ; song, Master H. Bennett ; chorus, ‘‘ Temperance Bells,” by five girls; recitation, Mr Turner; viiss French and Mr Mclndoe ; -Dialogue, “The Wishing Cap,”- Ethel-; Biggs, Agnes Craig, Annie. Allen, Ivy Hirst, Freda Heighlander; trio, L. Stanley, E. Stanley, Edie Patterson ; duet, Ethel Biggs and A. Allen ; reading, Maria Morrison; song,,.Mr Mclndoe. The meeting^as-Very orderly and very little made while the various items ; were rendered. This is 'as it should be, and greatly enhances the pleasure of these meetings. A Committee meeting was held at the close to transact business for the good of the cause, and to arrange for the next meeting.
