TE AROHA TOWN BOARD.

ORDINARY MEETING. The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board was held in/bheir office in the Domain Building Saturday evening last, the Bth inst: All members with the exception of Mr Bradley being present. • • - Minutes of the ordinary meeting and also of the special, meet-*,; ing were read and confirmed. The inward and outward correspond dence was'also read. Bridge. —A letter was received from Messrs W. White, T. Mclndoe, Allaway, and others, asking for a small bridge to be constructed across the creek opposite their properties.—The matter was left in the hands of the Works Committee to havo the work carried out. y ‘

Road.— Mr S. T. Smardon also wrote asking that a road be made to his property, and offering to pay a third of cost of same. Left in hands of Works Committee.

Subsidy. —A letter was received to the effect that the subsidy of £9 had been placed to the Board’s credit towards prospecting at Stony Creek. Bridge -street Contract. —Mr J Bew applied for money at the rate of 75 per cent, for work done on his Bridge-street contract. Com Hotchin, said he was of opinion that only one third of the work had been done. He also stated that Mr Me Andrew, who is acting on behalf of the Government on this work, coincided with his views, and had reported accordingly to head quarters. It was resolved on the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Com Hotokiu that the sum of £2O (75 per cent on work done) be paid the contractor. Rate.— The Chairman gave notice of motion that he, would move at next meeting that a 6d rate be struck on the whole of the rateable property within the Te Aroha Town Distr'ct. Formation oe Street. —Com Gallagher thought it would be advisable to form a street alongside of Mr Menzies’ factory towards the railway station ; he was of opinion the work could be carried out for a very small sum, and that when completed the. work would prove a great benefit, v It was .resolved that the Clerk write to the Railway Department asking them to put their end of the street in repair, and thal the Works Committee invite tenders for the remaining portion.- . Tenders are to be called for the work in two weeks time.

It was resolved that the accounts be passed for payment with the exception of those of Messrs Miller and Pavitt. The accounts are for 'Work done for the late Board in connection with the water-works scheme, and for some reason or other have not been sent in till the present time. The passing of the amounts was left over till the next ordinary meeting. This was all the business. -'
