THE MA.STERTON TRAGEDY Satnrday. Somerville was before the Court today, charged with the murder of Herbert. No new evidence was adduced. The accused was committed for trial. The prisoner throughout maintained an indifferent aspect, keenly watching the evidence, and especially Mr Hutch-: ison, who had been talking to Herbert when the fatal-shot was fired.
■' ; • v Sunday. The man. Andrew Somerville, accused of murder at Masterton, was brought down by last n'gh .’s train and lodged in the Terrace ga 1, where he is watched day and night. He. appeared to.be quite calm and reserved. It is said he complained of the treatment he was subjected to in Masterton after his arrest, and that he was handcuffed all the time, with his hands behind him.
