THE SLAVERY QUESTION
POLICY OF GREAT BRITAIN
London, Morch 9, Sir E. Grey, Under-Secretary to the Foreign Office, in Tepljdng in the House of Commons to a complaint of increased slavery, declared that the British principle wa3 not to meddle with the purely domestic slavery of protectorates, and that they would only liberate slaves in the exent of their being found in transit over the mainland or by sea. The Bishop of London and others condemn the attitude taken up by the Government.
YOUTHFUL MURDERERS
CRIME IN A GERMAN REFORMATORY Berlin, March 10 Four boys, all under seventeen, strangled two of their sleeping comrades in Leitz Reformatory, Saxony, with a view of obtaining greater comfort in their prison quarters. The young miscreants were sentenced to terms of fifteen, twelve, andfohr years. VISIT OF A WAR CORRESPONDENT Melbourne, March 11 Mr Villiers, the well-known war correspondent, at present -with the Japanese forces, will visit Australia, and deliver a series of lectures on the China-Japanese war. THE MILITARY SCANDAL Sydnhy March 11 The court martial which has been engaged for the past fortnight in hearing the charges against Captain Close has concluded its sittings. The president announced that the finding would remain sub justice till it had been considered by the Governor.
