The Emperor of China has condemned to death all the military and civil officers at Weihaiwei, and authorised the Governor of Shantung to behead them without consulting the Emperor. The magazines in the. fort at Formosa exploded and killed fifty soldiers. The Japanese shell fire at Haiching prevented the Chinese from coming to close quarters.
