y MONTHLY MEETING. The ordinary monthly meeting of the. above Board was hold in their office in the Domain grounds on Saturday evening last, the 9th inst., there being present: Corns. Gavin (in the chair), Bradley, Hetherington, and Hotchin ; Mr F. Pavitt, Engineer to the Board, .was also in attendance. ; The minutes of the. previous meeting were read and .confirmed. \ ,Correspon-d%ce.— A y read from the Eton. A. J-. Cadman informing the Board that arrangements had been made so that excursion tickets for Te Aroha, can he obtained on the same terms as the Rotorua line. Poundkeeper Trouble. -The Boahaving wrote to Mr J. A. Miller, as to whether or not Mr Edward Gallagher was a member of the Board, he replied that as Mr Gallagher had paid, the rent of the Pound to the end of his term he thought the Board would be justified in accepting his resignation, butthoughttheßoardshould only do so after the poundkeeper had sent in his resignation us a member oja the Board." -yyyyy- yy s,
A short discussion took place, but no one moving in the matter the subject was allowed to drop. TJ y Aid to Prospectors.— The Chairman moved that .the Clerk ho instructed to write to the Mines Department asking to expend the . subsidy towards prospecting, seconded by Com Hetherington, and carried . Supplies.— lt was decided to insert an advertisement in the Te Aroha & Ohinemuri News inviting tenders for supplies for the next twelve months, returnable at next meeting. Plans of Works.; The Engineer laid plans and specifications of proposed works on the table, viz., clearing and repairing Stoney Creek track; putting additional wings and renewing a portion of Lipsey’s bridge; re-forming and grading Bridge-stre et. The plans as shown were approved of by the Board. -- Small Contracts “ —lt was resolved that the Works Committee (Corns. Hetherington aud Hotchin) be empowered to let small contracts up to the sum of £3. Dog Collars :—The Clerk was instructed to insert.a notice calling the attention of owners of dogs to registrar, otherwise proceedings will be taken. .. ...

The Chairman expressed himself very freely on this subject; He stated he did not see why he and Mr Mills should have to pay the engineers expenses re this matter. He (the Chairman) said that if it had not been for the unflagging manner in which Mr Mills had fought for the completion of Thompson’s Track the . work would never have reached its present satisfactory state,' He thought the ratepayers should be thankful to that gentleman for the assistance rendered.
