The so-called French Exhibition at Earlscourb is merely the old Italian and Ameri can barrack sparsely fitted with one or two aggresirely English stalls. The opening ceremony on Saturday was a “ frost save in one particular—the luncheon —which really did do credit to the “cordon bleu from Bignons. ” “April showers’’ lias not caught on in the evening at the Comedy Theatre, and on Saturday a new piece, entitled “ Queen’s Counsel,” by James Mortimer, is to tako its place. Mtb Bancroft’s much-talked-of two act play, “A Riverside Story.” will be acted to-day at the Haymarkob Theatre, which is sure to bo crowded from floor to ceiling. The opera season at Covent Garden commenced on Monday ovening with “Faust,” in which the Do Resko Bros., Madame Scalchi and a new soprano, Madame Nuovina, appeared. Jean De Iteske’s voice is as beautiful as over.
