PUHIPUHI SILVER FIELD.
FIRST CRUSHING SHAPING WELL-
Mr J. Harrison, Chairman of Directors of the Prospectors’ Mine at Puhipuhi, arrived from the Thames to-day.. He states that the parcel of stuff now being treated at the Thames School of Mines is shaping, well. Seventeen assays were made from the stone as it was going through the machinery, and the result was an average of 62 ounces to the ton. lb will be towards the end of the week before the battery is cleaned up. Mr Harrison expresses himself well satisfied with the way the stone is shaping, a 3 he is confident it will pay handsomely, more especially as there are thousands of tons of similar stone available for crushing. Mr Harrison expresses himself satisfied that the chlorodised roasting process is quite unnecessary for Puhipuhi stone, and that it simply requires dry crushing and pan amalgamation. As this is much cheaper than the other process this will be good news for shareholders. The Chairman of Directors is satisfied that the ore can bo mined and treated for 20s to 25s per ton, which should leave a handsome margin for profit. To-morrow, Mr Harrison leaves for Waihi in order to inspect the plant there, as he is given to understand the process will suit the requirements of Puhipuhi ore. He will then go on to Karangahako on Wednesday, in order to soe a ton of ore from Puhipuhi treated by Cassell’s process.
