Mining News.
KUAOTUNU,
The treatment of the third parcel of ore sent from the Otama claim to the Moanataiari Battery, at the Thames, has been completed! The ore treated amounted to 61 tons, from which the satisfactory return of 161 oz of gold was obtained, giving an average of nearly, 2£oz, to the ton. From this mine there has now been treated a total of 01 tons fo*-3350z of gold, giving a total average of somewhat over 3£oz to the ton. This must be looked upon as an excellent yield, and should' give great encouragement to those interested in this field. Mr George Comer, well known at Thames in mining circles, has been'appointed manager of the claim. The company have a good balance on band, so the work of opening up the mine will lie vigorously pushed forward. Probably another parcel of ore will be sent to the Thames for treatment, ponding the erection of ft crushing plant on the field.
