Waitekauri

(From our own Correspondent.) Waitekapju, Saturday. On Fri<lay last Mr A. Carson Dunning left this district, having filled the position of schoolmaster here for the past four ye rs ; aud has just been appointed to a larger school in the Waikato district. The members of the School Committee and sevnal local residents met together to wish Mr apd Mrs Dun* i.iug good-bye, wfien Mr T. Gordon, Chairman of the local School Committee, pie©e:itel Mr Dunning with an address, as follows :

'l’d Mr A. C. Dunning, Dear Sir, — On behalf of the inhabitants of Waite kauri, we the undersigned, members of the School Committee, desire to express to you our high appreciation of your character and work as a school-master amongst us during the four years. While, oil the one hand we regret your loss from our midst, yet, on the othei, we are glad to know that you are uppointed to a better position and wider field of usefulness. We heartily wish you God-speed in your new sphere of action, and trust.that health and prosperity may attend you in your future life. The same expressions of good wishes we sincerely accord to Mrs Dunning.— We remain, etc., Thomas Gordon (Chairman), William Hollis, George Colebrook, Daniel Campbell, Charles Bunting, William Corbett. Mr Dunning on receiving the address suitably replied and expressed his feelings of regret on leaving his late pupils and the friends he had made in Wuitekauri, but as he was leaving with the prospect of better ing bis position be knew they would not wish to stand in his way. With a hearty ‘Good-bye ’ from those assembled, Mr and Mrs Dunning left Waitekiuri about noon for Aucljdund-
