Paeroa.

I”From our own Correspondent.] Paeroa, Thursday Evening. Death : Mr Quinlivan died at his residence, Fraser’s township, yesterday afternoon at three o’clock. About two weeks ago he was seized with a severe cold but paid little attention to it, and was walking about the town here on Monday last. A turn for the worse then took place and the services of Dr Cooper were called in, bnt medical skill could not avail as apoplectic symptoms had set in, and the deceased, as mentioned above, died from serious apoplexy. Mr Quinlivan was a hard working industrious settler, and much respected in the district. He ar»d his sons have carried on the business of carriers in this district for many years. He leaves two sons and one daughter to mourn their loss (all grown up). On Friday his remains will be conveyod to Thames, there to be interred. Yet Another Accident at Waihi : On Sunday last Mr H. Thorne met with a severe burning accident. He was hurrying across a heap of tailings to assist one. of the men, and not knowing the tailiugs were hot was up to his knees in the red hot staff before he discovered his error, and in trying to extricate himself fell forward, and besides his leg from the knee to the ankle being badly burned, his hand also met with the same fate. Suiely Waihi is a nice place ? You ean be accommodated with any class of accident you may desire. I understand the New Zealand Accident Insurance Company’s have barred Waihi Company employees, but cannot of my own knowledge state this is so.
