FOUND DEAD.

A SHOCKING DISCOVERY. Auckland, June 10. A sad affair was brought to light this morning by Messrs James Craig and W. Hall, who have a carpenter’s shop in Albert-street adjacent to what was the Clanricarde Hotel. An elderly man named CharlcsMilen, who waea blacksmith by trade, occasionally did work for Messrs Craig and Hall. As Milen had not been near them since last Thursday, Messrs Craig and Hall determined to go to the hotel building where he slept and see if the old man was all right. They did so, but found all the doors locked. Mr Craig effected an entrance by means of a window, and followed by_ his partner commenced to search the building. Upon arriving at the old man’s bedroom they noticed a most unpleasant odour, and when the door was opened they were shocked by the discovery of the body of Milen lying cm the floor with his feet outwards, and hia head under the bed. The general appear* ance of the body was that death bad resulted from a fit, as the bed clothes were all in a heap on bop of the deceased. As decomposition had set in, Messrs Craig and Hall did not stay long in the room, bub went and informed the police. Constable Lamb inquired into the matter. He learned that Milen was seen on Saturday by a man named Hutchison. The deceased lived many years in this city, and has adult children residing in the Auckland district. IHe is stated to have been a man of temperate habits. It is probable that the customary inquest will be held to-morrow.
