Accident at Waihi.

Paeroa, Noon; Friday. Information has just been received here of a most distressing accident at Waihi. The particulars as stated to me are as follows : Mr James Donnelly, shortly prior to work commencing this morning, was seen walking leisurely along the tramway, close to where the kilns are situated. He had been speaking with Mr Lloyd only a few minutes before, in fact Mr Lloyd had only jnst left hint to go to his breakfast, when lie was startled by Donnelly crying out; He imniediately ran back to see what had happened, and found Donnelly lying at the bottom of one of the kilns, with both legs broken and otherwise seriously injured. It appears he slipped and fell into the kiln whilst walking along its brink. Assistance was at once procured, the sufferer conveyed to the office of"the Waihi G. Mining Co., and a messenger promptly despatched to Paeroa to wire for medical assistence. At the time the messenger left Waihi the injured man was suffering very great agony. Much sympathy is felt and expressed in. connection'with the sad Occurrence, Donnelly is an old resident in the district, and is the father of a large family. r j['he distance lie fell would ite about tweiity feet, t, ■ 5 LATEST.
