In the Supremo Court, Auckland, on Monday last,before Mr Justice Connellv. in the case Divid Snodgrass (of Paeroa) v. Tims. Melville and Another—Claim LIOO damages for trespass, Mr F,. Hesketh appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr Cooper for the defendant. Bv consent, the plaintiff accepted judgment for L2O, and costs on the lowest scale. There is every Hkehood of n new company beine formed at an early date to work the Deep Level Cross mine, Thames. A meeting of shareholders in the latter company is to be held in Auckland to-morrow, for the purpose of considering the advisability of pnrchasing the Deep Level Crosa mine from the liquidator, and forming a new company.
The number of persons in this district suffering from influenza we regret to state still continues very numerous, in some instances the symptoms being very severe Rev Mr Evans ib amongst those recently nttncked, and was consequently unable to conduct the Anglican Church service on last Sunday evening, Mr Winston? reading the service for him. We are glad to know Mr Evans and others indispowed are progressing favourably towards recovery.
At the laßt monthly meeting of Tanranga County Council, the chairman asked the Clerk whether he had made out the statement for Thompson’s Track.—The Clerk replied that lie bad been unable to do so as } e lmd no papers relating to the cost of Mr J eer’a survey.■—Resolved, on the motion < f Cr Macmillan seconded by the Chairman, that tho clerk write to the PurveyorGeneral asking for a copy of the statement showing the coet of Mr Beer’s purvey, and to say wlint had been done ns to survey of road in Piako Comity, and ■when it would be finished, so ns to enable the Council to complete their portion of Hie work.—Cr Pratt desired to include in tlie last resolution, that the letter also ask whether Mr Fairhairn’s report on Thompson’- Track had been sent in, and if so, to forward it to this Council. —Resolved that this he included in the resolution.—Cr Killen vdshed to know whether the Council would take any steps as to the report on the TaiirnngaCambridge Rond made by the Piako County Engineer. The Cl.ni'nian said he had seen a contractor who would agree to make the Cambridge Road into a coach road, for £l<ioo, and that this could he divided between the two Counties.
