News from Sydney states that the wellknown barque Coulnakyle, loaded with 625 tons of copra for Marseilles for orders, very narrowly escaped being wrecked while being towed out of Levaka Harbour, Fiji, lately, by the Union Steamship Company's steamer ’Oreti. The tow-line parted just after the barque entered the passage. There was but little wind at the time, but ■' the strong tide running set the vessel down towards the northern jioinb of the reef, and there was nob more than two or three fathoms to spare when a second tow rope was made fast. Skilful handling of the steamer averted tho threatened disaster, and the barque was towed to a good offing before the tug steamer parted company with her.
