CHARGE AGAINST A DUNEDIN FRUIT IMPORTER.
THE CHARGE WITHDRAWN. Dunedin, May 20. The City Court was crowded to the doors on Sanderson’s case being called. . Sir Robert Stout said he had been instructed by informant to appear on his information. Since the information was laid, information had been afforded by the accused of the chemist who supplied certain pills and certain powders, which were taken by the informant, and the chemist states that both were perfectly harmless and given by the accused for different purposes than alleged in the information. This being so, there was nothing left but bo ask leave to withdraw the information. Mr Fraser, who defended, said it having been admitted by the other side that accused was entirely innocent of the charge, he, as counsel, was Contented with a withdrawal. Mr Fifch, who presided on the Bench, said, “Was there no suspicion of collusion?” Mr Fraser replied, “ Absolutely none, the entire innocence of the accused being admitted by the other side.” The accused was thereupon discharged.' . . / ;
