The first Monday in June will be the day of the year as regards entries for coming events. The Ten Thousand Pounds Melbourne Cup will make its first bow, and then come the Maribyrnong Plate, the Normanby Stakes, the Ascot Vale Stakes, the Champion Stakes, the Derby, the St. Leger, the Sires’ Produce Stakes, and the Foal Stakes, all of which close on the same day. The V.A.T.C. Caulfield Cup, Juvenile Stakes, Criterion Stakes, Federal Stakes, Great Foal Stakes, and Guineas, and entries for the Great Metropolitan Stakes, Hawkesbury Handicap and Rowley Mile also close on the 2nd June.
